FAQ: Five Common Questions About the Innovation Lab (Answered)

What? Zahara Innovation Labs are creative spaces where students experience hands-on learning around topics such as 3D design, engineering, technology, data, arts, and more. Our main focus is STEAM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) with soft skills also included.

Who? The labs are aimed at young students, particularly in high school and early college years. The user of the ZAHARA Innovation Lab is a curious learner who is interested in exploring new topics, creating and building projects, and being part of a community of other motivated learners.

Where? Zahara Innovation Labs are hosted in partnership with local strategic partners. Hosts provide the physical spaces for labs and amenities, while Zahara leads the equipment-sourcing process, builds programming, and trains staff. This model is a scalable process where each location is independently operated and becomes a rich environment for students.

When? The first Zahara Innovation Lab is expected to launch by early 2023. Subsequent labs will undergo co-creation processes with hosts and have roll out dates later in 2023 or 2024.

How? The labs will be managed through hiring of a highly effective program manager, as well as staff technicians and mentors to support students. They will run the day-to-day operations of the lab, teach modules, supervise students, and maintain good records.
