Offering a One-Year Fellowship to Empower Outstanding Sudanese College Students

Overview:

The ZAHARA Ambassadors Program is a one-year program that aims to: 

1. Empower and recognize passionate students in Sudan

Students who are selected are willing to contribute to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 ‘Quality Education’ and work directly with ZAHARA to achieve its mission, to ensure inclusive and equitable education, and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

2. Expand ZAHARA impact and presence at different Sudanese universities

The Ambassadors will be the most senior representative of ZAHARA in their prospective universities. They will assist in implementing ZAHARA proposed projects, support and lead the development and execution of the university-based programs, while establishing and expanding the profile of ZAHARA in their universities.

Are you one of Zahara’s next Ambassadors?

Responsibilities as a ZAHARA Ambassador: 

  1. Make local chapter/branch of ZAHARA in their various universities.
  2. In partnership with the KhartouMap Initiative, ambassadors will be organizing the first Hackathon events that focus on mobility, transportation and equity issues.
  3. Organize 2 events on their university campus.
  4. All ZAHARA ambassadors are expected to engage and participate in organizing a year-end conference at the end of the fellowship program.
  5. Be active on ZAHARA social media platforms.

Additional Program Details:

Eligibility

  1. Be between the age of 17 – 26 years 
  2. Be a student at one of the Sudanese universities
  3. Work or volunteer experience is not necessarily required.
  4. Demonstrates passion for developing their personal and professional skills
  5. Demonstrates passion for making a change and giving back to the community
  6. Enthusiastic to promote the purpose of ZAHARA for Education initiative, which is to expand educational opportunities between Sudan and the United States.
  7. Ability to mobilize a team and plan activities will be an added advantage when demonstrating leadership qualities
  8. Students in their second or third year of college or university, particularly those in their first, second or third year, are encouraged to apply for this position
  9. Students from local universities in underserved areas are highly encouraged to apply
  10. Female applicants are encouraged to apply.
